Ackworth House is proud to have delivered a stunning feature staircase for the Bank of New Zealand (BNZ) at their Queen Street branch in Auckland. This project, completed in collaboration with commercial interior fit-out specialists Unispace, exemplifies our expertise in crafting bespoke staircases that seamlessly blend branded elements, aesthetic appeal and structural integrity.
A staircase was required that not only aligned with the business’s modern and professional aesthetic but also reflected its corporate branding. The design needed to seamlessly integrate safety, functionality, and striking visual appeal. Ackworth House worked closely with the fit-out specialists and the project architects and our team provided detailed shop drawings and expert guidance prior to construction and installation, ensuring the staircase exceeded architectural and structural expectations.
After the meticulous design approach, collaborating with the design and the architectural teams, the staircase was constructed using a robust steel structure coated with a fire-rated intumescent paint, enhancing both safety and durability. The steps featured a sophisticated combination of carpet tile treads for practicality and American Oak risers, adding warmth and elegance with natural wood. This combination of materials ensures the staircase stands out as a custom, functional and stylish centerpiece in the bank's interior.
A key highlight of the staircase is its steel panel balustrade, painted in the signature ‘BNZ Blue.’ This custom colour aligns with the corporate identity, creating a cohesive visual connection with the business’s branding. The balustrade adds a distinctive pop of colour while maintaining a professional, polished appearance.
Ackworth House manufactured and painted the staircase with precision in our facility, ensuring every detail was executed perfectly. To minimise disruption to the daily operations, the installation was carried out using specialised equipment, including lifting frames and trolleys. Our skilled tradesmen ensured the staircase was installed efficiently and safely, delivering a flawless final result.
